This morning I woke up to the mewling of hungry kittens.
I had 5 cats, one of which had recently had two kittens, which we have named Mork and Mindy. I looked at the time, and it was around 10 o’clock, so I thought I’d get up and see if I can find these kittens’ mother so they can have a feed. I went downstairs, opened the door, called for a little while, and no cat showed up. Which, to be honest, isn’t an odd thing. They quite often bugger off and do their own thing, so I thought nothing of it.

Look at ‘em. Aren’t they cute? Yeah - now they’re orphans too.
About an hour after I’d attempted to call their mother, there was a knock at the door from some guy walking his dog. He asked me if I owned a cat, and I replied yes. He then proceeded to tell me that there is a cat behind my garden that appears to be dead. I don’t think it needs to be said that my stomach immediately gave that feeling of dread. I rushed around the back of the garden to find this:

I’m sorry for the squeamish - or actually, I mean to say, fuck being squeamish and look at the damn picture. That is a picture of an innocent animal brutally murdered by someone who obviously doesn’t give a fuck about consequences. What possessed the sick fucker to do it? I swear to God if I find the wanker who shot my cat, I will be putting a pellet or 50 through his eyes.
I seriously doubt that the person who shot my cat reads my blog - in fact I can almost guarantee they don’t - but if anyone remotely close to knowing the person who did it does read this blog, you can assure them that I will now be keeping my rifle at my side, loaded, with my window open. And so help me God; if I see anyone trying to do anything to my cats, I will fire. Yes, that is a threat.
I suggest people keep their dogs on leads, and their hands, feet, guns, metal bars, or other potential weapons to themselves.
I will fucking kill you.
Just installed a new theme.
I got it from http://gigi.blogsport.de/k2-styles. It makes a change from the very bright theme I previously had. I like it
I recorded another piece of music today. I’m feeling quite ill, which might explain the melancholy nature of this piece. It’s up for download now if anyone really wants to bother listening to it.
Yeah, so I posted twice in the same day. Call the blog police.
Anyway, I was just thinking about my current server machine, and how crap it is… I mean, Dual Core Processors, DDR2 RAM and SATA hard drives are now the NORM. This this is still trundling along, running GNU/Linux Fedora Core 5 with an 800mhz AMD Duron. It has a pitiful 128mb SDRAM and a 12gb ATA133 hard drive that makes more noise than two hedgehogs mating… (they’re REALLY noisy, believe me).
It first hit me the night before last when I was tweaking around with ET and a dedicated server config file. To do anything graphically on the server I had to log in and use VNC. The differences between using a 2.16ghz dual core MacBook Pro and using an 800mhz dinosaur become very apparent in this situation. Opening Firefox took about a minute. In comparison, it opens practically instantly on my MacBook. The hard drive was clunking and chunting and grinding… all those noises that make you whince and wonder how modern hard drives are so quiet.
I was surprised how well the ET server actually ran while it was finally up. Connecting to it took just about as long as it would if it was being hosted on my iMac, only a second or two longer.
But still, give that machine more than one job, and it’ll die. Luckily the Teamspeak server was unpopulated, freeing up some processor cycles.
What I guess I’m trying to say is that this thing is Ancient. And I really should get a new one. It’s times like these that I kinda wish I hadn’t sold my MacMini. That would have made a great server. Small, silent, powerful enough to run a couple of servers.
I guess the only thing wrong with that is that Teamspeak don’t have a server written for OS X. But nothing would have stopped me from installing Linux on the MacMini.
So just as a request, if anyone who reads this blog, and lives in the UK somewhere knows where I can get a better machine than this one for free or cheap, then I’d be grateful for you to let me know. It doesn’t have to be a monster, just slightly more… with it, if you’ll pardon the expression… innit. Ok I’m done. Word.
Haven’t posted for a while. Not much to post about really. Thats my story and I’m sticking to it.
The only real reason I’m posting today is the image on the left. I noticed it while looking through the credits for Firefox 2.0. Wan-Teh. TEH! How awesome is that name?
Wish I had an interesting name like that
.
By the way, if you haven’t already, get Firefox 2.0. It really is as good as people make it out to be. My favourite feature (apart from the interface refresh) is the “resume session” feature. If Firefox closes for any reason, say it crashed, or a website you were on had some dodgey code and closed the window you were looking at without your choice, it has the option to resume where you left off, or to start a new session. Genius. Also, I noticed that there is a feature that allows you to choose whether to start up with your homepage, or to display the pages / tabs you were viewing before you closed firefox. I don’t know if thats new or not, but its good. Unless you were looking at porn. Then it would be a bit bad, opening your browser and being greeted with a page full of tits…. Or then again, that might be good . Bad if someone else does it on your computer…. Hehe… Google Ads are going to pick up on my mention of porn and start showing porn ads. Here comes the money
lol.
Anyway, I don’t know what else to bore you with, apart from the fact that LOST SEASON 3 EPISODE 4 IS OUT TONIGHT Z0MG! Yeah, bitch. I told you.
Oh, and one last thing - this is for Truman, if he ever reads this blog… “Clover”.
