Was It Silly To Trust EA?

Apple - Games - Features - EA

The above link leads to a article at Apple.com/games detailing EA’s efforts to bring popular games back to the Mac.
No-where in the article does it give an insight as to when EA are planning to release these 6 titles to the Mac community, but those who watched Steve Jobs’ keynote speech at this years WWDC should remember that EA specifically said July. The article on Apple’s site just says “coming soon” for every game… Not very helpful.

I’m writing this post on July 30th, giving EA one more day to cough up the goods before they start running late.

Now I know that developing software (especially games) takes a lot of time and effort, but here, EA have no excuse. You can see over at Transgaming, that EA have chosen to use the Cider engine to bring the games over to OS X.

One of Cider’s biggest selling points is that it allows developers to bring Windows games to Mac without needing to rewrite any of the game itself, saving the developer a huge amount of time and effort, and the providing the ability to release games to both platforms simultaneously.

Cider eliminates the typical arduous, expensive, and lengthy development process and allows game developers and publishers to extend their gaming franchises to the explosively growing Mac market - cost effectively, efficiently, and with a quicker time-to-market. [...] Cider is so effective that publishers can deploy Mac and Windows versions of their titles simultaneously, even for games already in development.

So what’s taking so long EA? The work is practically done for you….
