So, I went to London again with Sof for a week before she went back to Uni. This time was a little different though, since Rich also came to see his girly too.
The week was packed with trips into London, the Apple Store, Camden, laughter at pigeons, drunken debauchery and playing the Wii.
The weather held up pretty nice, making the trips pleasant. Although I ran out of money about half way through the week… heh.
In keeping with my philosophy of having to buy something whenever I visit the Apple store (and taking into account my lack of cash) I bought the Mac version of Age of Empires III. The game itself is great, it works well and is fast. The only problem is that the development team who ported it must have been the laziest team in the world. They didn’t port any of the ESO multiplayer capability. Instead they just pushed all the weight onto a third party service called GameRanger. That means that multiplayer games can only be between Macs, and not Mac-PC… which is why I bought the game in the first place.
I can’t think of any game ported to Mac that doesn’t allow multiplayer across platforms. Wc3, Quake4, W:ET all do. Why can’t AOE3?
It’s hard to support the Mac Gamer community when it keeps ass-raping itself like this.
So anyway, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard has been pushed back until October. I kind of have have mixed opinions on this. On the one hand, I’m glad because that gives me more time to save up some money and be able to buy a Mac Pro when Leopard is released. On the other, I’m disappointed because it was so hyped up and Apple kept saying it was on schedule and would be released in June alongside the iPhone.
But I did read a comic that made me laugh: It stated various reasons for Leopards delay, but the penultimate reason was: “Vista still sucks guys, there’s no need to rush”.
In the land of the Wii, I’ve been playing the new Dragonball Z game (courtesy of Rich) and it is absolutely awesome! I think it’s one of the games on the Wii that takes advantage of the WiiMote more than other games do in the fact that it’s not just gimmicky, little mini-games that use the WiiMote like you would in a sport etc. One of the things that I found awesome was that to perform a Ka-me-ha-me-ha you have to do it yourself with the WiiMote! ![]()
I’ll be buying that game soon enough.
Finally, as a short side note: We need to go shooting again - the weather is perfect.
